Keeping Commercial and Shared Buildings Usable

A shop entrance, apartment doorway or delivery route cannot be treated as spare ground simply because work is taking place above it. The scaffold layout needs to acknowledge how the property functions each day.

Temporary Roof Protection

Once tiles, slates or structural roof sections have been removed, an exposed building can quickly become vulnerable to the weather. A temporary roof creates a protected working area while the permanent roof is repaired or rebuilt.

Permission is not automatically included because scaffolding is required for the work. The property owner or project team should confirm any necessary local authority licence, neighbour agreement or planning requirement before erection. Extra measures may be needed where members of the public pass beside or beneath the structure.

Flagging the boundary at quotation stage avoids a late change in layout after dates and trades have already been arranged.
