The Tholsel, Drogheda
Full-height access scaffolding for the restoration of one of Drogheda's best-known 18th-century landmarks and Protected Structures.
Full access to an 18th-century landmark
Irish Scaffolding Services provided full-height access scaffolding for the restoration of the Tholsel in Drogheda, one of the town's most recognisable 18th-century landmarks and a Protected Structure.
Working on a live town-centre street, our crew erected an independent scaffold around the limestone clock tower with weather protection at high level.
The scaffold gave the restoration team safe, full access to the tower, parapet and stonework while maintaining pedestrian safety below.
Heritage work on a structure of this importance demands precision and care. The scaffolding package was delivered to programme and to conservation standards.
What the Tholsel restoration project included
Full-Height Tower Scaffold
Independent scaffolding was erected around the limestone clock tower to provide access from street level to the top.
High-Level Weather Protection
Weather protection was installed at high level to support restoration work around the tower and parapet.
Clock-Tower Access
Safe working access was provided to the tower, stonework, parapet and other difficult high-level areas.
Pedestrian Management
The scaffold was planned around a busy town-centre street while maintaining pedestrian safety beneath the works.
Working safely in the centre of Drogheda
The project required careful planning around an active town-centre street, with safe access needed at high level while people continued to move through the area below.
The independent scaffold provided the restoration team with practical access to the clock tower and stonework while protecting the public and the historic structure.
